Public Circuit Builds Anticipation for New LP 'Modern Church'

On July 1, 2025, the NYC-based group Public Circuit released the track "Samson," a hypnotizing synth-pop ballad infused with electronic post-punk expression. The track is the lead single from their forthcoming second LP, Modern Church, scheduled to arrive on September 12 via à La Carte Records. It was closely followed by the release of "To The Grave" on July 29–a track that is equally strong, making fans eager to hear more.
Public Circuit, composed of Ethan Biamont (vocals), Sean Holloway (drums), and Nelson Fisher (synth), aims to reshape retro revivalism into something that is distinctly their own. Modern Church will explore themes of sexual identity, unresolved trauma, and fleeting faith in society, using religion as a metaphorical lens.

In "Samson," the group layers punk ideals over a synth-pop beat, leaning into a psych-rock/post-punk sound. The track is named after a character from Abrahamic mythology, known for his extreme strength and the betrayal that led to his downfall. "Samson" uses this symbolism–and its groovy sound–to push back against patriarchal norms and the notion that gender can only be binary.
"To The Grave" is a bit more mellow than "Samson" but carries a similar sound and message. The track is led by a steady kick drum and beat, which is then elevated by synth–whereas its predecessor flips that dynamic. It shows that Public Circuit is unafraid to switch things up in pursuit of a sound that is unique and deviates from traditional synth-pop conventions.
Music videos are available for both tracks on the band's YouTube, and the release of Modern Church will be paired with a full US/EU tour kicking off in September.
